MARION AND TIGERTON, WI – The Marion Mustang Booster Club is working toward one of its biggest projects yet, with plans to install new scoreboards at both the baseball and softball fields.
Booster Club President Luke Stuhr says the organization recently launched a fundraising campaign with a goal of raising $35,000 for the project.
“We are only a couple thousand dollars into our $35,000 goal,” Stuhr said. “The goal obviously would like to be reached before next spring so that we can have it in place for next year.”
Stuhr says the goal is to have both scoreboards installed in time for the 2027 spring sports season.
The scoreboard effort is just one part of the booster club’s work in the Marion community. While athletics remain at the center of the organization, Stuhr says the group also supports a wide range of community and youth activities.
“We run a softball tournament in the summertime. We do some local 50-50s, we do blood drives,” Stuhr said.
The club also runs youth sports tournaments and camps throughout the year, including basketball and volleyball opportunities for younger athletes from the Marion and Tigerton areas.
Stuhr says the booster club also purchases senior athlete banners, covers costs tied to high school sports banquets and awards two $750 scholarships each spring to Marion graduates pursuing college or technical school.
The group has also partnered with organizations including the Marion Public Library and Friends of the Park, while helping with community events such as Music in the Park and the annual Easter egg hunt.
Stuhr says the booster club was built around the idea of giving back to young people and strengthening the community through athletics and other programs.
“It’s all about the kids. It’s kind of our motto,” Stuhr said. “Everything is about building our future generations and maintaining our area.”
The organization raises much of its funding through concessions, sponsorships, tournaments and other community events, with Stuhr saying every contribution helps.
The Marion Mustang Booster Club is also looking for additional members. The group meets on the first Wednesday of each month from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Marion High School, and Stuhr says community members can be involved at whatever level fits their schedule.
