Road Construction Continues Across Menominee, Shawano and Waupaca Counties

NORTHEAST WISCONSIN – Drivers across Menominee, Shawano and Waupaca counties are being advised of several ongoing highway construction projects, with closures, detours and lane restrictions continuing throughout the region.

In Menominee County, construction continues on WIS 47 between WIS 55 and the Langlade County line. Crews are patching areas around replaced culverts, installing curb and gutter, putting in guardrail and beginning shoulder work.

WIS 47 remains closed to through traffic from County VV west to the Langlade County line as crews continue culvert replacement operations. A detour is in place using US 45 and WIS 29, while local traffic and emergency services will continue to have access. The overall WIS 47 project is scheduled to continue through the end of October.

Several projects are also moving forward in Shawano County.

On WIS 29 between County M and Highline Road, crews are grinding new concrete patches while eastbound and westbound traffic remains shifted to the inside lanes. Farther along WIS 29 between County J and County M, crews are repairing concrete patches with the outside lanes closed to traffic.

Work also continues on WIS 22 between County BE and the Oconto County line. Crews are paving from County BE to WIS 117, with motorists advised to expect single-lane closures and flagging operations through the work zone.

In Waupaca County, several projects continue to impact US 10, US 45 and WIS 54.

In New London, the north half of the WIS 54 and County D intersection remains closed through Aug. 17. Construction is then scheduled to shift to the south half of the intersection, with that phase expected to continue through Sept. 14.

Traffic on US 45 between County C and Gollnow Road remains shifted onto the southbound side of the highway, with one lane open in each direction. That traffic pattern is expected to remain in place through October.

Along US 10, motorists will continue to encounter lane closures near Anderson Road. The WIS 49-54 westbound off-ramp from US 10 also remains closed and is expected to reopen Aug. 26, weather permitting.

WIS 22 near US 10 will temporarily reopen from Friday evening through early Monday morning before construction restrictions resume.

Drivers traveling through any of the construction zones are encouraged to slow down, remain alert for workers and allow additional time to reach their destinations.
