Police Beat 8-17


Shawano Police handled a variety of calls Sunday, including several disturbances, welfare checks and animal-related complaints.

Officers were called to Kuckuk Park shortly after midnight for reports of young people in the park. A short time later, police investigated a suspicious vehicle at the same location after two juveniles reportedly dropped off a vehicle and left the area.

During the day, officers responded to ThedaCare Medical Center for a disorderly conduct complaint involving a patient. Police were also called to a traffic hazard on Richmond Street, where a tree was blocking most of the roadway. City public works crews were dispatched to clear it.

Several welfare and 911 calls were also investigated, including a report involving a confused elderly woman downtown and another call in which officers could hear children on the phone.

In the evening, police responded to a reported domestic disturbance and a separate disturbance complaint.

And early Monday morning, officers received a report of a bear walking toward Franklin Park on Shawano’s south side. Police responded to the area.

 

Clintonville Police had a busy Sunday, with officers conducting numerous business checks and extra patrols throughout the city.

Police also responded to two ambulance calls, one on Seventh Street and another on North Twelfth Street. Officers conducted traffic enforcement in several areas, including Madison and Bennett Streets, Highway 45, and Ninth and South Clinton Avenue. Radar enforcement was also conducted near Madison and West Streets.

Other calls included a mental health-related incident on South Main Street, a disorderly conduct complaint on West Morning Glory Drive, and a child custody call on South Clinton Avenue.

Officers also conducted foot patrols and extra patrols on several city streets.

Late Sunday night, police checked a business on Seventh Street and responded to an open-door complaint on West Madison Street. No further details were provided in the activity report.

 

The Shawano County Sheriff’s Department handled 50 incidents Sunday, including several traffic-related complaints, welfare checks, juvenile incidents and other calls across the county.

Among the more serious calls was a reported rape shortly after three-thirty Sunday afternoon in the Shawano area. The incident remains active, and the report provides no additional details.

Deputies also investigated a weapon-related complaint in the town of Washington. The report says a man allegedly shot a lock after being unable to use a key, and deputies handled the incident.

There were several reports of reckless driving, including calls on Highway 29, County Highway E, Division Road and Highway 45. Deputies also responded to a personal-injury crash on Highway 29 near Exit 2.

Other calls included a shoplifting complaint in Tigerton, a disorderly conduct complaint, a criminal damage report in Pulaski, and several disabled vehicles.

Deputies also handled multiple welfare and 911 calls. One welfare check involved a report of a young person apparently intoxicated, while another involved concerns about a person who had made alarming statements.

Late Sunday night, deputies responded to a report of underage drinking and another juvenile complaint involving children allegedly throwing rocks at a stop sign near a school.

The Stockbridge-Munsee Police Department handled three calls Sunday, including a juvenile runaway report, a medical alarm that was determined to be accidental, and a vehicle lockout at North Star Casino.
