The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office handled 52 incidents on Thursday, including several traffic-related calls, animal complaints, a weapons complaint, and a reported disturbance.
Deputies were called to the Shawano area early Thursday morning after a resident reported a neighbor shooting a gun. The caller said the gunfire had happened before and was disturbing nearby residents. The incident remains listed as unfounded in the sheriff’s report.
There were also several traffic hazards reported throughout the day. Deputies responded to a cone in a pothole on Lake Drive, a separate report involving limbs in the roadway, and a large piece of farm equipment traveling on Highway 55 without hazard lights and taking up a significant portion of the road.
Animal-related calls included a cow reported in the roadway near Highway 45 and Hirt Road, a raccoon found in a cage near Shawano, and an injured bald eagle reported in a horse field near Gresham.
A welfare check was requested for an older man who lives alone after a neighbor noticed his garage had been open for about 24 hours and he had not been seen. The report does not indicate the outcome of that check.
Deputies also responded to a trespassing complaint on Curt Black Road after cameras detected an unknown silver Chevrolet on the property.
Later in the evening, a reckless driving complaint was reported on Highway 22 near Shawano. A disturbance was also reported at a residence near Country Lane in Cecil.
The day ended with a property-damage crash reported on Highway 45 near Bluebird Road. The sheriff’s office lists that incident as closed.
Clintonville Police handled a variety of calls Thursday, including several welfare-related incidents, a threatening complaint, and multiple requests for extra patrol.
Officers conducted numerous business checks during the early morning hours, all along South Main Street. Two open-door complaints were also reported on South Main.
During the day, police responded to a harassment complaint on North Main Street and conducted welfare checks on South Main Street and Fifth Street.
A threatening complaint was reported on Lincoln Avenue shortly after two in the afternoon. An ambulance was also requested on East First Street, with another medical call reported later in the evening on North 12th Street.
Police received a 911 call from North Clinton Avenue and handled a paper service on East Third Street.
Traffic activity included a traffic complaint and two traffic stops, including one on South Main Street late Thursday night.
Officers also conducted extra patrols on North Main Street and Spring Street as part of their ongoing efforts to keep an eye on activity throughout the community.
Shawano Police handled a busy day of calls Thursday, including several welfare checks, traffic stops, and a death investigation.
Officers were called early Thursday morning to a home on East Randall Street after a report of someone repeatedly knocking on a door and ringing the doorbell. Officers responded and the call was closed.
A welfare check at Walgreens involved a man reportedly standing outside the store, appearing to be in distress and running into the sliding doors. Another welfare check was requested later at a home on East Richmond Street for a man who had not been seen for several weeks.
Police also responded to an abandoned 911 call from a location on Waukechon Street.
During the afternoon, officers and firefighters responded to an incident at Ferrell Gas on East Green Bay Street.
One of the more serious calls of the day was a death investigation at an apartment on South Franklin Street. Multiple officers and an ambulance responded, with police remaining at the scene for several hours.
Other calls included a disorderly conduct complaint downtown, a bicycle complaint involving a rider reportedly popping wheelies, several traffic stops, and additional 911 and welfare-check calls late Thursday night.
The Shawano Police Department’s report does not provide further details on the death investigation.
