Clintonville Police handled a busy day of activity Wednesday, including a reported arson, a motor vehicle crash, and a property damage complaint.
Police conducted several business checks during the early morning hours, along with foot patrols and extra patrols throughout the city. Officers also responded to an ambulance call on North Main Street and assisted another agency near Ninth and South Main Streets.
A property damage complaint was reported on Eighth Street shortly after one o’clock Wednesday afternoon. Later, police investigated an arson report on Coleus Court. The circumstances and extent of any damage were not immediately available.
Officers also responded to a traffic hazard on 18th Street, several citizen-assistance calls, and two lockout complaints.
A motor vehicle crash was reported at South Main and East Madison Streets around 5:40 Wednesday evening. Police also handled a stray animal complaint on West Street.
Additional extra patrols were conducted Wednesday night on Spring Street and Memorial Circle.
Shawano County Sheriff’s Deputies handled 48 incidents throughout the day on Wednesday. Deputies responded to a fire alarm on South Webb Street in Wittenberg. A short time later, deputies investigated a reckless driving complaint in Bonduel, Another reckless driving call came in during the afternoon on Highway 29, where a driver was reported to be “all over the road.”
Deputies also assisted multiple fire departments, including a midday response to a fire panel alarm at Homme Home on South Webb Street.
A welfare check was requested for an 82‑year‑old woman with back issues after family members were unable to reach her. The caller told dispatch they had been trying to contact her and she wasn’t responding.
Later in the evening, deputies investigated an erratic driver near Bonduel. The complainant said the vehicle was tailgating and nearly caused a rear‑end crash, estimating speeds over 70 miles per hour.
The day wrapped up with a disabled vehicle on Box Elder Road, where deputies found a gold Chevy Equinox parked roadside with two people inside.
Shawano Police handled a busy day of calls Wednesday, including several welfare checks, traffic stops and reports of disturbances. Officers responded to a report of reckless driving near East Green Bay Street and Eberlein Park Drive after a silver Toyota was reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed and ran a red light.
Police also investigated a vehicle that struck a building on East Elizabeth Street. The report indicates the vehicle caused damage to the building, and the driver did not have a valid license.
Officers responded to several welfare-related calls, including two separate incidents involving concerns that people may have taken pills. Police and Shawano EMS were also called to Mills Street late Wednesday night for an 84-year-old woman who had fallen and suffered a head injury.
Other calls included a disorderly conduct complaint, a disturbance, a trespassing report, harassment, and a report of a missing person being tracked to Shawano.
Police also assisted with an abandoned luggage report at the Shawano Library and conducted extra patrols at a local church following concerns about people sleeping on the property.
