SHAWANO, WI – The 100 Plus Men Who Care Shawano County group continues to grow as it works toward its goal of reaching more than 100 members while providing financial support to local nonprofits.
Steering committee member Jim Meyer said the organization has already grown to 76 members, with more men continuing to join the effort.
“We’re up to 76 members on our goal to 100-plus, and I really think by the end of the year we’ll be at 100-plus,” Meyer said.
The group’s momentum has even led to prospective members attending meetings and asking to join on the spot after seeing firsthand the impact the organization is making in the community.
During last week’s meeting, members presented their latest donation to Bridge the Gap and also heard an update from Lakeland Industries, a previous nonprofit recipient, about how its funding has been used.
Meyer said joining the organization is a simple way for local men to make a meaningful difference in Shawano County.
“If you want to come to all the meetings, it’s probably four hours a year and $400,” Meyer said. “Otherwise, it’s $400 and no hours of your time, but you’re still making a really big impact because all the money stays right here in Shawano County.”
To make participation easier, the organization also offers electronic payment options and early voting for members who are unable to attend meetings in person.
Organizers say they hope continued growth will allow the group to support even more local charities while reaching its goal of more than 100 members by the end of the year.
