BABA Roundup Week 14


NORTHEAST WISCONSIN – Caroline, Gresham and Wittenberg picked up key victories while several games were impacted by rain.

CAROLINE 12, CLINTONVILLE 9 

The Caroline Cougars earned a pair of wins to improve their position heading into the postseason. Caroline opened the weekend Friday with a 12-9 victory over the Clintonville A’s behind three hits from Klay Barkow and two-hit performances from Mike Weatherwax and Jeremy Schoenike. Colton Barkow added a triple, while Jake Madson earned the win on the mound.

CAROLINE 25, TIGERTON 7 (7 inn)

The Cougars followed that up Sunday with an offensive explosion, defeating the Tigerton Tigers 25-7 in seven innings. Jared Cartwright drove in five runs, Mason Breitenfeldt finished a perfect 4-for-4 while scoring five times, and Klay Finger belted a home run. Klay Barkow added two RBIs, while Jack Yaeger earned the pitching victory.

Despite the loss, Tigerton received strong offensive performances from Caleb Dahlstrom and Paul Sellner, who each collected three hits. Patrick Provost highlighted the Tigers’ offense with a grand slam.

GRESHAM 14, CLINTONVILLE 12 

The Gresham Gophers outlasted the Clintonville A’s 14-12 in one of the weekend’s highest-scoring contests. Crew Weisnicht delivered the biggest hit of the game with a go-ahead three-run home run after Treyvon Granquist collected three hits. Mike Pecore and Cody Riemer each doubled in the victory.

Clintonville nearly completed the comeback behind three-hit performances from Austin Hoffman, Hunter Vollmer and Brock Smejkal. Hoffman and Vollmer each hit a pair of doubles in the losing effort.

WITTENBERG 23, LEOPOLIS 19

The Wittenberg Pilots outslugged the Leopolis Bulldogs 23-19 in another offensive showcase. Dalton Zeinert led Wittenberg with five hits, while Wesley Hintz collected four hits, including two doubles and a triple. Zach Urquhart also recorded four hits as Nathan Waupekenay picked up the win.

Leopolis answered with plenty of offense of its own. Jackson Krohn hit two home runs, Brady Hannes finished 4-for-4, and Jaden Stuhr added three hits, including two doubles.

Rain forced the postponement of the Marion/Menominee and Tilleda/Little Falls matchup.

Northern Division

The Birnamwood Kings were awarded a 9-0 forfeit victory over Crandon.

Elderon defeated Hatley 11-4 behind a 15-hit attack. Mike Lehman and Isaac Williams each recorded three hits, while Bryce Zoromski also had three hits. Hatley’s Braxton Olsen and Hayden Davidowski each finished with three-hit performances.

Eland defeated Aniwa 13-4 as Tyler Nelson earned the win while helping his own cause with three hits and two doubles. Lucas Mandich homered for Eland, while Aniwa’s Kody Szews finished a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles. Chris Wiseman also homered for Aniwa.

South/Central Division

Plover picked up a victory by forfeit over Weymont.

The scheduled matchup between New London and Scandinavia was postponed due to rain and has been rescheduled for Wednesday evening in Scandinavia.
