NORTHEAST WISCONSIN – With the regular season entering its final stretch, the Dairyland League championship race remains one of the closest in Wisconsin amateur baseball.
The Bonduel Broncos sit atop the standings with a 13-2 record, holding just a half-game lead over the defending champion Waupaca Lakemen, who are 12-2. Both teams have separated themselves from the rest of the field and appear headed for a battle for the league’s top seed.
Hortonville remains within striking distance at 11-4, two games behind Bonduel, while the Cecil Mudhens are fourth at 9-6 and continue to position themselves for a strong postseason run.
The race for the remaining playoff spots is much tighter. The Shawano Lobos and the Navarino Rangers are tied for fifth place at 6-8, followed by the Marinette Redbirds at 5-9. Pulaski enters the week at 4-11, while Hofa Park and Nichols round out the standings with three wins apiece.
Bonduel has also been one of the league’s most productive offenses, scoring 119 runs this season. Hortonville leads the league in run production with 140 runs scored, while Waupaca has crossed the plate 109 times and Cecil has scored 107.
