Shawano Police stayed busy Monday, responding to a variety of calls across the city. Just after midnight, officers arrested a suspected impaired driver after Menominee Tribal Police reported a vehicle traveling all over the roadway on Highway 47-55 near Frailing Lane. Later in the early morning hours, officers checked on a man reportedly asleep inside the East Green Bay Street Kwik Trip after concerns he may have been intoxicated.
Police also investigated a disturbance involving loud arguing at an apartment on Madison Way, responded to a crash on East Green Bay Street after gravel spilled from a dump truck reportedly damaged another vehicle, and handled a complaint about property maintenance and ordinance violations on South Lafayette Street.
During the evening, officers investigated another suspected OWI at Smalley Park after reports of people yelling around a vehicle, responded to several welfare checks, and handled two shoplifting complaints at the East Green Bay Street Kwik Trip.
Clintonville Police responded to a wide range of calls on Monday, keeping officers busy throughout the day.
The overnight hours included multiple business checks on Commercial Avenue, 10th Street, and South Main Street, along with extra patrols in the city. Officers also responded to several 911 calls on Spring Street, Garfield Avenue, West Street, East 12th Street, Hemlock Street, and North Clinton Avenue.
During the morning, police investigated an ordinance violation on Pansy Circle and later took a theft report on West Madison Street. Officers also handled a lost-and-found report on 15th Street and checked on a suspicious vehicle on Main Street.
Traffic-related activity remained steady with complaints near North Main Street and Highway 156, a traffic incident at 6th and Bennett Streets, and a traffic stop on South Main Street. The day also included a report of a stray animal on West Madison Street and a welfare check on Lincoln Avenue.
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office responded to a wide variety of incidents across the county on Monday, including crashes, reckless driving complaints, welfare checks, and numerous traffic stops.
Deputies investigated several reports of reckless driving during the day, including one involving a vehicle on Highway 29 near the 225 exit and another involving a semi-truck reported to be weaving across westbound Highway 29 near the Highway 196 interchange. A separate report indicated a truck was losing metal debris along Highway 29, creating a traffic hazard for motorists.
Deputies also responded to a property-damage crash at the intersection of Highway 47 and South High Line Road and an injury crash at County Highway M and County Highway U. Additional calls involved disabled vehicles on Highways 29 and 45, along with traffic hazards that included a displaced storm drain cover and roadway debris.
Several welfare checks kept deputies busy, including concern for a person near the water off North Airport Road, an elderly resident living alone near Clintonville, and another individual in the Shawano area.
Other calls included multiple 911 reports, an assist to another law enforcement agency, an animal complaint involving an injured fawn on Sunrise Road, and a report of a goat wandering onto neighboring property near Pulaski.
Throughout the day and evening, deputies also conducted numerous traffic stops across Shawano County as part of routine traffic enforcement aimed at improving roadway safety.
