SHAWANO, WI- There is encouraging news in the recovery of Sunny, the dog rescued from a Town of Maple Grove property after being found with multiple gunshot wounds and other serious injuries.
Kris Tetting, a volunteer with the Shawano County Humane Society, said Sunny continues to heal, and there’s already a family eager to give her a permanent home once she’s medically cleared.
“There is a family that has put interest in and we are wanting to adopt him,” Tetting said. “So as soon as he is healthy enough to go, there’s a fabulous home waiting to take him in.”
Despite the positive update, Tetting said the search for answers about how Sunny was injured is far from over.
Humane Society volunteers and local law enforcement continue asking the public to come forward with any information that could help identify who is responsible.
“Sometimes you know things and you don’t even know,” Tetting said. “Did you see an unusual vehicle coming somewhere? Does this dog look like one you used to see and you haven’t seen around in a little bit?”
Sunny was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, a broken leg, and several broken ribs. Since then, he has continued making steady progress under the care of the Shawano County Humane Society, with volunteers documenting her recovery and thanking the community for its overwhelming support.
Investigators are hoping even the smallest detail could help move the case forward. Anyone with information about Sunny or the circumstances surrounding her injuries is encouraged to contact the Shawano County Humane Society or local law enforcement.
While his road to recovery isn’t over yet, volunteers say it’s comforting to know Sunny already has a loving family waiting to welcome her home once she’s fully healed.
