SHAWANO, WI – St. James Lutheran Church is inviting the community to worship outdoors this Sunday during its annual outdoor service at the church’s retreat center near Acres of Recreation, just north of Shawano.
Pastor Andrew Zobel said the service is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m., weather permitting. The church has had to contend with rainy conditions during several outdoor events this summer, but organizers are hopeful for favorable weather this weekend.
“It’ll be a 10:30 this Sunday out there, weather permitting, of course,” Zobel said. “We haven’t had too much luck with our Nights in the Park so far this summer.”
Following the worship service, attendees are invited to stay for a community potluck, providing an opportunity for fellowship with members of the congregation and visitors alike.
Families attending Sunday’s service will also have the chance to learn more about St. James Lutheran Preschool, which still has openings for the upcoming school year.
Emily Schwartz said the church continues to accept enrollment for its three-year-old preschool program for children who will be 3 years old by Sept. 1.
“We still have room in our three-year-old preschool program,” Schwartz said. “If you know someone that is going to be three by September 1st, we have a wonderful program.”
The preschool offers two scheduling options for families: a Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning class and a Tuesday and Thursday morning class.
Schwartz said she will be available during Sunday’s outdoor worship service to answer questions and provide information to families interested in enrolling their children.
