Shawano School District Encouraging Early Enrollment and Athletic Registration Ahead of New School Year

SHAWANO, WI – As the start of the school year draws closer, the Shawano School District is encouraging families to complete student enrollment and athletic registration now to ensure students are ready for the first day of classes and the upcoming fall sports season.

Data Systems Coordinator Cory Kaisler says parents who are new to the district should begin the enrollment process as soon as possible. Families can complete registration online through the district’s website without needing to visit the school.

“Parents who are new to the district should not wait to get their enrollment process started. They can register right now. They can do it online without our assistance. They can go right to our website, ShawanoSchools.com, and on the top part of the page there’s a button that says enrollment, and that’ll get them started,” Kaisler said.

For families who need assistance, Kaisler says the district’s Welcome Center and Enrollment Services Office at Shawano Community Middle School is available to answer questions and guide parents through the registration process.

He also reminds families who live outside the Shawano School District that they may still be able to attend through Wisconsin’s Alternate Open Enrollment program.

“We can get them the forms from the DPI or they can go to the State of Wisconsin’s website. They have to complete those forms and we have to process that application,” Kaisler said.

Alternate Open Enrollment opened July 1 and remains available throughout the school year.

Meanwhile, Shawano High School is reminding student-athletes and their families to complete athletic registration before fall practices begin.

Activities Director Kayla Brandemuehl says athletes must register through the district’s Arbiter platform, with registration instructions being shared through SportsU. She also reminds families that every student-athlete must have a current WIAA-required sports physical on file before participating in practices or competitions.

The fall sports season is already getting underway, with the boys soccer program holding WIAA contact days leading up to Community Soccer Night and the annual Alumni Game on Friday.

“Friday night Coach Brooks this week will do our Community Soccer Night. We have a middle school all-star game at 5:45, and then our alumni soccer game will be at 7 o’clock,” Brandemuehl said.

Because construction continues on Shawano High School’s new athletic field, this year’s Community Soccer Night and Alumni Game will be held at Shawano Community Middle School.

District officials say completing enrollment and athletic registration now will help ensure students are ready to start the school year and participate in fall activities without unnecessary delays.
