Shawano Police stayed busy yesterday, responding to a variety of calls across the city. Officers began the day by checking an unsecured concession building at Memorial Park before investigating a suspicious vehicle at Sturgeon Park and making contact with three juveniles following a complaint downtown.
Other calls included rescuing a raccoon trapped in a storm drain, assisting a 75-year-old resident experiencing chest pains, and helping reunite a friendly lost beagle with its owner. Police also responded to two disturbance calls, one involving reports of yelling in an alley and another later in the afternoon on South Smalley Street.
Traffic enforcement remained a priority, with numerous stops throughout the day resulting in citations and warnings for speeding and seat belt violations. Officers also assisted with a vehicle lockout involving an 18-month-old child locked inside a running vehicle, and later handled domestic disturbance and intoxicated person complaints during the evening hours.
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office handled a busy day of calls across the county yesterday, with deputies responding to everything from traffic enforcement and thefts to welfare checks and crashes.
Traffic safety remained a major focus throughout the day as deputies conducted dozens of traffic stops on highways including 29, 45, 47, and 117. Many drivers received warnings or citations for speeding, unreadable license plates, registration violations, and other traffic offenses. Deputies also responded to several roadway hazards, including a deer blocking Highway 117 near Cecil and reports of grass clippings creating a hazard on Dent Creek Road.
Investigators are also looking into the theft of construction tools from a locked job trailer in the Tigerton area after the equipment was discovered missing over the weekend. Animal-related calls included complaints about loose dogs entering neighboring properties near Pulaski and reports of dogs chasing wildlife in the Birnamwood area.
Deputies conducted welfare checks in Tigerton and the Town of Wescott, served a warrant at the Shawano County Courthouse, and responded to a property-damage crash near Bonduel, along with reports of reckless driving, fireworks being thrown from a moving vehicle on Highway 22, and a late-night deer crash on Highway 29.
Clintonville Police responded to a variety of calls yesterday, keeping officers busy throughout the day. The shift began with an agency assist on South Main Street, followed by extra patrols in the downtown area. Officers later investigated a report of a suspicious person on Hemlock Street and provided another agency assist near Harriet and 20th Streets.
During the afternoon, police responded to a suspicious activity complaint on 9th Street, an ordinance violation on 7th Street, and a domestic disturbance on South Main Street. Officers also assisted EMS with an ambulance call on West Green Tree Road and helped a resident with a citizen assist on 16th Street.
The evening included a traffic stop at Maize and Paulina Streets, a property damage complaint on Hemlock Street, a suspicious vehicle investigation on South Main Street, another traffic stop on Club House Drive, and extra patrols around Memorial Circle.
