Registration Now Open for Young Eagles Flights at Shawano Regional Airport

SHAWANO, WI – Registration is now open for children who want to take part in the Young Eagles flights during next month’s Fly-In Car Show at the Shawano Regional Airport.

Airport Manager Kyle Hotvedt said organizers have launched a new registration system to help streamline the process for families and volunteers ahead of the event.

“We have a new registration process up and ready to go,” Hotvedt said. “It’s already open, so people can sign up from now until the event, and there will still be walk-up registrations available the day of the event.”

The Young Eagles program will feature five one-hour flight sessions between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., giving children the opportunity to experience a free airplane ride with volunteer pilots.

Hotvedt said the Shawano Regional Airport has been working closely with the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Wausau Chapter to ensure the event runs efficiently.

“The EAA chapter in Wausau wanted to get a good gauge of how many people are going to come to the event because this is their first time hosting it,” Hotvedt said.

The registration system is designed to help organizers better manage flight schedules while reducing wait times for families attending the event.

Families who have questions about registration or flight scheduling are encouraged to contact either the Shawano Regional Airport or the EAA Wausau Chapter before the August Fly-In Car Show. Organizers recommend registering in advance to secure one of the available flight times, although walk-up opportunities will be offered as space allows.
