GILLETT, WI – Construction is officially underway on a new $1 million playground that will transform Zippel Park into a more inclusive destination for families in the Gillett community.
City leaders, residents, and project partners gathered this week to break ground on the project, which will replace playground equipment that has served the community for more than 70 years.
Officials say the new playground has been designed to be fully accessible and inclusive, allowing children of all abilities to play together. The project is expected to be completed by October.
The improvements are being funded through a Community Development Block Grant and will also include the construction of new restroom facilities at Zippel Park.
City officials say the investment will provide a safer, more modern recreational space for local families while enhancing one of Gillett’s most popular community parks.
Although construction is now underway, organizers say donations are still being accepted through the Friends of Gillett to help support continued improvements at Zippel Park and future park projects.
