SHAWANO, WI – Downtown Shawano will be buzzing with activity this Saturday as ShawanoFest returns for a full day of family-friendly entertainment, local vendors, live music and community events.
Shawano Downtown BID Coordinator Lindsay Johnson says motorists should plan ahead, as several downtown streets will be closed throughout the day to accommodate the festival.
“We’re in the 100 and 200 blocks of Main Street, the 100 and 200 blocks of South Main Street, and then over at Franklin Park as well,” Johnson said.
The closures will be in effect from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m.
Johnson says the goal of ShawanoFest is to provide an affordable day of entertainment for families, with nearly every activity offered free of charge.
“Most of our things are free. A few things have a small charge to them. We like to keep this as family-oriented and family-friendly for families to come check it out,” she said.
Activities will be spread throughout downtown and Franklin Park, giving visitors plenty to see from morning through the afternoon.
The Shawano Farmers Market kicks off the day from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Franklin Park alongside the Shawano Area Childhood Partnership’s Kids Fun Day, featuring games and book giveaways in partnership with the Shawano County Library.
Live entertainment begins at 9 a.m. with 7000apart performing in Franklin Park, followed by Spark Spark Bang at 11 a.m.
On North Main Street, festivalgoers can enjoy a car show featuring awards in multiple vehicle classes, an ambulance open house, three free bounce houses, face painting, a $5 bungee trampoline, and music from Mark B. Mark at 10 a.m. and Bob Gresh beginning at 12:30 p.m.
South Main Street will feature 46 craft vendors, a large Food Truck Rally, seating areas, and a dunk tank hosted by the Shawano Community High School Drama Club.
Visitors can also stop by The Naberhood, where families will find free space to relax, balloon artist Freddie creating balloon animals, and a performance by Amelia Ford beginning at 1 p.m.
Johnson also encourages visitors to spend time supporting local businesses while enjoying the festival.
“Don’t forget to visit our great Shawano Downtown businesses.”
