NORTHEAST WISCONSIN – As anglers continue to enjoy Wisconsin’s summer fishing season, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is reminding fishermen to stay up to date on special fishing regulations affecting several area lakes and rivers.
DNR Warden Clark Delzer says one of the most significant recent changes is the 10-panfish daily bag limit, which now applies to Shawano Lake, its connected waters, and White Clay Lake.
“Shawano Lake and the connected water bodies to it changed to a 10-panfish daily bag,” Delzer said. “That 10-panfish daily limit is also now in effect for White Clay Lake.”
Delzer is also reminding anglers that several other special regulations remain in place throughout Shawano and Waupaca counties.
For walleye, anglers in Shawano and Waupaca counties are limited to three fish per day, with a minimum length of 18 inches.
The Cloverleaf Lakes continue to have a 25-panfish daily limit, with no more than five bluegill or pumpkinseed measuring over seven inches allowed in an angler’s daily catch.
Meanwhile, on the Wolf River below the Shawano Dam, northern pike must measure at least 26 inches before they can be legally kept.
Delzer encourages anglers to review the current Wisconsin fishing regulations before heading out on the water to ensure they are following the latest rules and helping protect local fisheries for future generations.
