SHAWANO AND MENOMINEE COUNTIES, WI – Motorists traveling through Shawano and Menominee counties should continue to expect delays as several Wisconsin Department of Transportation road construction projects remain underway.
Shawano County
In Shawano County, work continues on multiple state highways as crews complete pavement repairs, shoulder improvements, and guardrail replacements.
Along Highway 29, construction is ongoing between County J and Highline Road, where crews are repairing concrete pavement, installing new asphalt shoulders, and replacing guardrails. Inside lane closures remain in place, and motorists should expect reduced speeds and possible delays through the work zone.
Construction also continues on Highway 22 between County BE and the Oconto County line, where crews are repaving the roadway, repairing culverts, and replacing guardrails. Drivers will encounter single-lane closures controlled by flaggers while work is in progress.
Meanwhile, crews remain busy on Highway 156, where pavement resurfacing, culvert replacements, and guardrail improvements are continuing.
WisDOT is reminding motorists to slow down in construction zones, remain alert for workers and equipment, and allow extra travel time.
Menominee County
In Menominee County, Highway 47 remains closed to through traffic between County VV and the Langlade County line as a major reconstruction project continues.
Crews are replacing culverts, grading the roadway, performing restoration work, and preparing the highway for resurfacing. The closure is expected to remain in place until mid-August.
Through traffic is being detoured via U.S. Highway 45 and Highway 29, while local residents and emergency services continue to have access through the construction area.
WisDOT encourages drivers to follow posted detours and use extra caution when traveling near active work zones this summer.
