SHAWANO, WI- Benjamin Heninger attended his first Shawano School Board meeting Monday after being appointed to fill a vacant seat on the board.
According to Superintendent Kurt Krizan, Heninger was the only candidate to apply for the position. Under district procedures, when only one candidate applies for a board vacancy, the school board president may appoint that individual to fill the seat.
The seat was previously held by Mike Musolff. The seat represents Area 3 which is the Town of Wescott and a portion of Town of Washington.
Krizan noted that the district has encountered similar situations in the past where only one person sought appointment to a vacant position.
Heninger participated in Monday’s meeting as the newest member of the Shawano School Board.
