SHAWANO, WI – The Shawano Farmers Market opened its 2026 season with a successful first market of the summer, drawing shoppers to Franklin Park and showcasing a wide variety of local vendors.
Market Manager Dave Mendoza said visitors were greeted by an impressive selection of products ranging from fresh foods to specialty items.
“The fish vendor and we had a lamb from Hidden Valley, they’re up in Cecil, two beverage vendors and eight bakers,” Mendoza said.
In total, 38 vendors participated in the season-opening market. Mendoza said he expects that number to continue growing throughout the summer as more locally grown produce becomes available and additional vendors join the market.
The market also featured a community-focused component beyond shopping and food. International Experience USA was on hand to connect with visitors and provide information about its student exchange programs.
“They specialize in high school exchange programs like that, so talks about team interested in hosting exchange students, high school age exchange students,” Mendoza said.
Mendoza said bringing organizations such as International Experience USA to the market helps create additional opportunities for community engagement while allowing visitors to learn about programs and services available in the area.
The Shawano Farmers Market is held Saturdays at Franklin Park and features local produce, baked goods, beverages, meats, crafts, and community organizations throughout the summer season.
