NORTHEAST WISCONSIN – After reaching back-to-back state championship games, Bay Port enters the 2026 high school football season as one of Wisconsin’s top contenders, checking in at No. 5 in the Bound Wisconsin Division 1 preseason rankings.
The Pirates are coming off another memorable postseason run that included playoff victories over Franklin and Muskego before advancing to the Division 1 state championship game. Bay Port appeared poised to capture another title after taking a late lead against Arrowhead in Madison, but the Warhawks returned the ensuing kickoff for a game-winning touchdown with just 35 seconds remaining, handing the Pirates a heartbreaking defeat.
Despite graduating standout quarterback Matt Stevens and star running back Brady Moon, expectations remain high in Green Bay. Head coach Steven Jorgensen says Bay Port enters the season with impressive depth, including 28 seniors and 37 juniors competing for starting positions. The Pirates return six starters on both offense and defense and are expected to once again contend for a trip to Camp Randall Stadium.
