OCONTO COUNTY, WI – Hundreds of visitors gathered at Riewe Farms on Sunday for the annual Oconto County Breakfast on the Farm, an event designed to connect the public with local agriculture while highlighting the work of farmers, students and agricultural organizations.

The event featured farm tours, educational exhibits, agricultural demonstrations and a farm-fresh breakfast, giving families an opportunity to learn more about where their food comes from.
Mariah Markhardt, FFA advisor at Oconto Falls Middle School, said the event was truly a collaborative effort among several area schools and FFA chapters.

Patrons Enjoying Breakfast
“It was a collaborative effort amongst the FFA chapters in the area,” Markhardt said. “We had a fishing station, the butter, the ice cream, a bingo game.”

Morning Mass
Students and staff from Oconto Falls, Gillett, Suring, Lena and Coleman helped operate booths and exhibits throughout the day, providing hands-on learning opportunities for visitors while showcasing local FFA programs.
The event also welcomed Wisconsin’s 78th Alice in Dairyland, Sarah Hagenow, who spent the day meeting with attendees and promoting Wisconsin agriculture.
“It’s just a really great way for our program to promote agriculture and help people understand how our food is produced and where it’s being produced,” Hagenow said.

Hagenow said events like Breakfast on the Farm serve as an important bridge between consumers and the farm families who work every day to produce food, fuel and fiber.

In addition to Hagenow’s appearance, attendees also had the opportunity to meet the 2026 Oconto County Fairest of the Fair, Josie Holtz.

Organizers say the annual event continues to provide a valuable opportunity for the public to learn about modern agriculture while celebrating the farmers, students and volunteers who help keep the industry strong in Northeast Wisconsin.
