
Donald A. Johnson, age 88 of Clintonville, passed away surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Appleton.
Donald Arthur Johnson was born in Nichols, WI on March 13, 1938, to the late Robert and Edna (Olson) Johnson. Don graduated from Shiocton High School and later attended college in California before moving back to the Nichols area. After returning to Wisconsin, he married the love of his life, Judith Wied on July 1, 1961, at the United Methodist Church in Clintonville. Don served his country in the National Guard and also held many jobs over his career. He was a foreman for the Wisconsin Gas Company and then went on to start VP&J Construction. While still working for the construction company, he began selling fire trucks for Seagrave and Marion Body Works. He also helped start J&H Game Farm in Navarino and was on the Clintonville Fire Department for many years, eventually becoming the Fire Chief. Don was very involved in his community and was an active member of United Methodist Church in Clintonville. He was also a member of multiple conservation clubs such as the Eagles Club and Shadows on The Wolf. Some of his favorite pastimes include playing Sheepshead with his buddies and golfing. Don also enjoyed taking fishing trips to Canada, spending time at The Poplar Palace and The Red Barn deer camps, and hunting with his grandchildren.
Don is survived by his daughter Michele (Paul) Skarda, and son Mike (Michelle Lichtenberg) Johnson.
Grandchildren: Matthew, Madison (Mason Maron), and Mackenna Johnson, and Joshua and Megan Skarda.
Siblings: Harland (Joanne) Grandy, Arla (Jim) Horvath, Mary (Jim) Tyner, Nancy (Allen) Ostdiek, Ron (Judy) Johnson, Jerry (Linda) Johnson, and Duane (Mary Jo) Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his wife Judy in 2025; his parents, Robert and Edna; a brother, Jim Johnson; and a sister, Joan Wichman.
Visitation will be held on Friday June 19, 2026 from 5PM-7PM at United Methodist Church, 24 13th St. Clintonville, WI 54929.
Visitation will also be held on Saturday June 20, 2026 at the church from 10AM until the time of service.
The funeral service for Don will be held at 11AM, at United Methodist Church.
Inurnment will take place at Graceland Cemetery in Clintonville at a later date.
The Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
The family would like to thank the caregivers, recreation staff, and residents of Rennes Health and Rehab. Thanks for taking such good care of our dad! We are grateful for resident B and his wife J for keeping him busy after our mother died, and to his two special caregivers – Oshie and Double D – You two are angels and he loved you like you were his own!
