WIAA Sectionals begin today with teams needing to win two games to get to State.
DIVISION 1 @ Kimberly
#1 Bay Port 3, #5 West De Pere 2
Bay Port walked off with a 3-2 victory over West De Pere on Tuesday in a tightly contested game. The Phantoms collected nine hits, including a double from Isaac Habetler, and received a strong pitching performance from Logan Wierzba, who struck out hitters while allowing just three runs over 106 pitches. West De Pere tied the game with a run in the seventh inning, but Bay Port answered with two runs in the bottom half to secure the win. Carson Hawley led the Pirates’ offense, blasting a home run and a triple while accounting for eight total bases. Both teams finished with nine hits, but Bay Port capitalized late to advance with the one-run victory.

DIVISION 2 @ Chilton
#2 Little Chute 5, #5 Xavier 4 (12 inn)
Little Chute outlasted Xavier 5-4 in a marathon 12-inning battle Tuesday morning. The Hawks scored in four separate innings and received doubles from Kyler Bleck and Matt Potter, but couldn’t push across the go-ahead run late. Little Chute rallied with two runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth before eventually winning on a walk-off run in the bottom of the 12th inning. August Hawthorne and Jaden Hermsen each doubled for the Mustangs, who finished with eight hits. Xavier collected six hits in the loss as the two teams combined to play nearly twice the length of a regulation game.
