Wittenberg-Birnamwood’s season ended one game short of the WIAA State Softball Tournament with a 9-2 loss to New Holstein in Thursday’s sectional final. Brie Ladika tripled and Kennedy Benbo added a hit for the Chargers, who finished with five hits. New Holstein used a five-run fourth inning to pull away and advance to state. Wittenberg-Birnamwood closes the season with a strong 24-5 record.

#1 Fox Valley Lutheran 7, #1 Denmark 6
Fox Valley Lutheran punched its ticket to the WIAA State Softball Tournament with a thrilling 7-6 victory over Denmark in Thursday’s sectional final. The Foxes collected 11 hits, led by Tenley Wolfrath, who finished with a double, a triple and five total bases. Kinley Peterson added three total bases and two stolen bases, while Madison Babcock earned the complete-game win in the circle. Fox Valley Lutheran held off a late Denmark rally to secure the one-run victory and a trip to state.

#1 Almond-Bancroft 6, #2 Cambria-Friesland 1
Almond-Bancroft punched its ticket to the WIAA State Softball Tournament with a 6-1 sectional final victory over Cambria-Friesland on Thursday. The Eagles scored in four different innings and totaled nine hits, led by Aaliyah Newby’s triple and Mya Dernbach’s three total bases. Lexi Carlton was dominant in the circle, allowing just one run on six hits while guiding Almond-Bancroft to the state tournament. The Eagles also played error-free defense in the win.
