SHAWANO, WI – As the 2025-26 school year comes to a close, Shawano School District Superintendent Kurt Krizan says there is plenty for students, staff, and families to celebrate across the district.
Krizan says one of the biggest successes this year came at the elementary level, particularly in reading achievement and literacy development.
“Some of the success that our students have had in the elementary level, especially regarding reading,” Krizan said when reflecting on the year’s accomplishments.
Krizan also credited teachers and staff members for their work adapting to new Department of Public Instruction requirements while continuing to focus on student learning and growth.
He says educators embraced the changes and remained committed to helping students succeed despite the additional challenges that came with implementing new mandates.
Another highlight for the district was celebrating the accomplishments of the graduating Class of 2026.
“When you look at our high school graduation and the accomplishments of our students, there’s just so much to celebrate with Shawano and Shawano School District right now and a lot to be very proud of as superintendent,” Krizan said.
Krizan says the positive momentum extends throughout the entire district, from elementary schools to the middle school and high school.
As another academic year comes to an end, he says students, staff, and district programs continue making positive strides, creating a strong foundation for the future and giving the community plenty of reasons to be optimistic heading into the next school year.
