SHAWANO COUNTY, WI – A Shawano County committee will hold a public hearing next month to consider a temporary moratorium on future data center development in unincorporated areas of the county.
The Shawano County Planning, Development and Zoning Committee is currently reviewing a zoning proposal that would temporarily pause new data center projects while county officials study the issue and develop regulations for those types of facilities.
County officials say the proposed moratorium would allow time for additional review and planning before any future data center development moves forward in unincorporated parts of Shawano County.
The public hearing is scheduled for June 3rd at 9 a.m. in Rooms A and B at the Shawano County Courthouse.
Residents will have an opportunity to provide input during the hearing by either speaking in person or submitting written comments to county officials.
According to Shawano County officials, copies of the proposed zoning changes and moratorium language are available for public inspection through the Shawano County Planning and Development Office.
