EMBARRASS, WI – A Pulcifer man is facing multiple criminal charges after Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources wardens say they uncovered a large-scale poaching operation that stretched across five counties.
According to a criminal complaint, 27-year-old Dylan Wolff allegedly hunted and fished illegally approximately 174 times between October of 2024 and January of 2026 while his hunting privileges were revoked.
Investigators say the illegal activity occurred in Shawano, Oconto, Waupaca, Brown, and Forest counties. Authorities allege Wolff illegally harvested approximately 22 deer, two turkeys, and around 43 fish during that time period.
The investigation eventually led DNR wardens to Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery in Embarrass after wardens noticed suspicious activity in the area earlier in the week. Court documents say wardens discovered tire tracks, corn kernels, and scent killer near the cemetery before later setting up surveillance at the location.
Wardens say they later tracked Wolff to the area and confronted him after spotting movement near the cemetery shortly before 5 p.m. According to investigators, Wolff attempted to leave the scene in his vehicle before eventually stopping after wardens approached him.
Authorities say the investigation involved multiple DNR wardens and uncovered extensive illegal hunting and fishing activity throughout northeast Wisconsin.
Wolff now faces eight criminal charges connected to the investigation.
