NEOPIT, WI – Officials with the Menominee Nation asked Neopit residents Wednesday to voluntarily reduce water usage while crews worked to repair a water main break affecting the community’s water system.
Repairs were underway on Shawpokasic Street, where Tribal Utilities crews were forced to isolate part of the system to address the issue. Tribal Utilities Director Darryl Pyawasay says the break occurred on a main water line.
“We have a water break that’s on the main line. So we had to shut and isolate that line down,” Pyawasay said.
According to Menominee Nation officials, residents and businesses were asked to limit water usage throughout the day to help maintain system pressure while repairs were completed. Customers were encouraged to avoid non-essential water use, including lawn watering, vehicle washing, laundry, and dishwashing whenever possible.
Officials said the conservation efforts helped ensure continued water service throughout the community while crews manually operated pumps and completed repairs.
The Menominee Nation also thanked residents for their patience and cooperation as crews worked to safely restore normal operations as quickly as possible.
