OUTAGAMIE COUNTY, WI – The Wisconsin State Patrol will once again take to the skies over Outagamie County as part of a Memorial Day weekend traffic safety campaign. State Patrol officials announced aerial traffic enforcement patrols are planned for Sunday, May 24th, along Interstate 41 to target speeding and aggressive driving behaviors.
The upcoming patrol marks the second aerial enforcement effort in Outagamie County this week after a similar operation was conducted Monday, May 18th. During the enforcement missions, pilots with the State Patrol’s Air Support Unit monitor traffic from above and identify drivers committing violations. Information is then relayed to law enforcement officers on the ground, who conduct the traffic stops.
State Patrol officials say the initiative is designed to improve safety during one of the busiest travel periods of the year as more drivers hit the roads for the Memorial Day holiday weekend.
Motorists traveling through Outagamie County are being reminded to slow down, avoid aggressive driving, stay focused behind the wheel, and always wear a seatbelt.
