Shawano. Police were kept busy with a mix of traffic enforcement, domestic complaints, vandalism, and suspicious activity across the city.
One of the more serious incidents happened just after 1 a-m when officers investigated a suspected OWI near North Fairview Way and East Green Bay Street. Multiple officers responded and field sobriety testing was conducted.
Police also responded to a domestic disturbance at Aspen Court after a caller reported hearing yelling and sounds of people being thrown around inside an apartment. Officers arrived within minutes to investigate.
Later in the morning, officers checked a report of a neglected dog tied to a tree on South Bartlett Street. The caller said the animal appeared cold and without shelter.
Investigators were also contacted about an alleged sports card scam involving thousands of dollars in merchandise connected to a Shawano address.
Tuesday evening brought several vandalism complaints involving homes reportedly egged by juveniles driving through neighborhoods in pickup trucks and SUVs. One resident told police they had video of the suspects.
Other calls included reckless driving near Smalley Street, a harassment complaint involving alleged threatening social media messages, and several overnight alarms and traffic stops throughout Shawano.
Clintonville Police handled a steady stream of calls throughout the day Wednesday, including traffic incidents, emergency calls, and overnight business checks. Officers spent the early morning hours conducting multiple business checks along Main Street and East and West 12th Street. Police also responded twice to reports of open doors at businesses on South Main Street shortly before 2 a-m.
During the daytime hours, officers assisted with ambulance calls on Motor Street and East 12th Street, while school extra patrols were conducted near 20th Street as students arrived for classes.
Police also investigated a tobacco-related complaint on West Green Tree Road and made several traffic stops throughout the city, including near County Highway I and South Main Street.
Emergency crews were dispatched to two separate 9-1-1 calls on Main Street during the afternoon and evening hours. One of the more significant incidents came just after 6-20 p-m when police responded to a motor vehicle crash at South Main Street and East Madison Street. No additional information on injuries was immediately released. Other calls included a stray animal complaint on North Main Street, a disabled vehicle on Waupaca Street, and extra patrol requests in residential neighborhoods.
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office handled nearly 40 incidents across the county, ranging from welfare checks and reckless driving to theft complaints and crashes.
One of the early morning calls sent deputies to Shawano Shores Circle, where a man reportedly had fallen and could not get up inside his home. Deputies also assisted Shawano Police with a domestic disturbance at Aspen Court after reports of yelling and possible fighting inside an apartment.
Throughout the day, deputies responded to several welfare checks, including one involving a patient who had received a shock from an implanted heart device and could not be reached by medical staff.
In Tigerton, the school district requested extra patrol during field day activities, while another caller near St. Paul Lutheran School in Bonduel complained about speeding vehicles near children and asked for added enforcement.
Investigators also handled multiple fraud and theft complaints. One caller reported someone used an old address to open a loan account in their name, while another resident claimed they paid for driveway work that was never completed.
Traffic complaints kept deputies busy as well, with reckless driving calls along Highway 29 near Leopolis, plus a report of a vehicle failing to stop for a school bus in Wittenberg while its stop arm was extended. Deputies also responded to a personal injury crash near Mork Road and Lake Drive, and shortly afterward investigated a drug complaint on Moh He Con Nuck Road in the Stockbridge-Munsee area.
The Stockbridge-Munsee Police Department also responded to a threatening complaint in Gresham and assisted with a medical call.
