Monday Softball; Bears Upset Chargers In CWC-East Clash On Walk Off

Bonduel 5, #20 Wittenberg-Birnamwood 4

Bonduel rallied from an early deficit and scored twice in the bottom of the eighth inning to edge Wittenberg-Birnamwood 5-4 in an extra-inning conference softball thriller Monday night. The Chargers collected 11 hits, led by Megan Fisher’s three-hit performance, while Rory Salvesen drove in two runs and Madison Fisher added a pair of hits and scored twice. Bonduel chipped away after trailing 3-0, getting RBI efforts from Haley Conradt, Maddie Hert, Gracyn Wudtke and Juliana Jacobs before walking it off in the eighth. Emery Thompson earned the complete-game win in the circle for the Bears, allowing four runs on 11 hits while striking out seven. Bonduel also played a clean defensive game without an error, while Wittenberg-Birnamwood committed six errors in the tough extra-inning loss.

Shawano 3, Xavier 2

Shawano picked up a tight 3-2 win over Xavier on Monday behind a strong third inning and solid pitching performance. The Hawks broke a scoreless tie with three runs in the bottom of the third and held on the rest of the way as Xavier scored single runs in the fourth and fifth innings. Riley Krueger led Shawano offensively with three total bases, while Amiyah O’Kimosh added a double in the victory. Kadence Meyers started in the circle and combined with Lily Bubolz to limit Xavier to six hits while striking out key hitters late in the game. Xavier was led offensively by Kalia Stammer, while Morgan Staszak threw a complete game in the loss.

Tigerton 15, Marion 4

Tigerton pulled away late Monday, scoring 10 combined runs in the fifth and sixth innings to defeat Marion 15-4 in conference softball action. The Tigers collected eight hits and took advantage of 14 walks to build the big offensive night after the game was tied 2-2 early. Aaliyah Lederhaus scored four runs and drove in two, while Danika Tiller and Lillian Welch each added two RBIs in the win. Marion stayed close through the first three innings behind a strong performance from Ashlynn Kussman, who had two hits and three RBIs, including a pair of doubles. Tiller also earned the win in the circle for Tigerton, allowing just four hits while striking out eight over six innings.

Crivitz 17, Gillett/Suring 0

Crivitz dominated from the opening inning Monday, rolling past Gillett 17-0 in five innings behind a huge offensive performance and strong pitching. The Wolverines scored five runs in both the first and second innings before adding seven more runs over the final three frames to finish with 24 hits. Hattie Frievalt led the attack with four hits and four runs scored, while Taryn Tracy drove in four runs and added a home run. Izzy Wesoloski also had a big night with three hits and five RBIs, while Kirsten Pusick collected four hits and three RBIs. In the circle, Tracy tossed a one-hitter and struck out 10 as Crivitz improved with another convincing conference victory.
