Shawano Police stayed busy Sunday with a variety of calls across the city. Officers investigated a reported theft at the Fuel On convenience store on East Green Bay Street after a regional manager told police an employee was caught on camera allegedly stealing lottery tickets. The suspect was expected to report for work later in the day.
Police also responded to multiple complaints about loud noise coming from Sturgeon Park throughout the day and evening.
Around midday, officers were called to a property on East Richmond Street after a caller reported a homeless man had taken over part of the property and may have been armed with a knife. Officers responded and the incident remains under investigation.
At Memorial Park Sunday evening, police investigated a juvenile complaint after a child was reportedly shot in the face with a gel blaster near the basketball courts.
Other calls included welfare checks, disturbance complaints, suspicious vehicles, and a reckless driving report early this morning near Andrews and Center Streets. Shawano Police remind residents to report suspicious activity promptly.
Clintonville Police handled a steady stream of calls throughout the day Sunday. Officers conducted several overnight business checks along Main Street, County Highway I, and Club House Drive, while also responding to suspicious activity reports on West Madison Street and North 12th Street during the early morning hours.
Police also carried out extra patrols in residential and industrial areas, including Anne Street, Industrial Avenue, and the SSGT Warren Hansen Drive area. Multiple traffic stops were reported throughout the day and evening at intersections across the city, including Highway 156 and McKinley Avenue, Anne Street and North Park Street, and along South Main Street.
Emergency crews responded to several ambulance calls on Spring Street, West Green Tree Road, and North Main Street. Officers also assisted residents with lockouts on West Madison Street and West Morning Glory Drive, handled citizen assist calls, and investigated an animal complaint on Primrose Circle.
The evening wrapped up with tavern checks and additional traffic enforcement patrols throughout the city.
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office responded to 20 incidents across the county on Sunday, including crashes, reckless driving complaints, animal problems, and several 911 calls.
Deputies investigated a traffic accident with injuries at Maple and River Roads near Wittenberg just before 6 p.m., while another non-reportable crash was handled earlier in the day on County Highway A near North Star Casino. Authorities also responded to a reckless driving complaint near Texas Jay’s on Highway 45 after a caller reported a black Dodge Ram swerving and nearly striking another vehicle.
Animal complaints kept deputies busy as well, including loose dogs on County Highway MMM in the Town of Richmond and an animal problem reported near Highway 45 and Fair-Morr Road in Tigerton.
Several abandoned or open-line 911 calls were also investigated throughout the day in Tigerton, Wittenberg, and Mattoon. Deputies checked on each situation and cleared the calls without major incident.
Other calls included a vehicle lockout in the Town of Richmond, disabled vehicles along Highway 29, a disturbance complaint on Woods Road near Shawano, and a trespassing report involving a turkey hunter near Leopolis Road.
