Shawano Police were kept busy Thursday with a wide range of calls across the city. Officers responded to repeated noise complaints at Sturgeon Park and along South Water Street throughout the day. One caller contacted dispatch several times reporting loud activity in the park area during the early morning and late evening hours.
At about 11 a.m., emergency crews responded to a personal injury crash at East Green Bay Street and Woodlawn Drive after a vehicle reportedly struck a light pole, leaving debris and the pole partially blocking the roadway. Multiple police units and ambulance crews were dispatched to the scene.
Police also conducted a welfare check at Walmart after an elderly woman reportedly became disoriented and unable to remember her name or who she was with while carrying a large amount of cash. Officers assisted in the situation shortly after noon.
Other incidents included a disabled vehicle partially blocking traffic near Waukechon Street and East Richmond Street, a disturbance call on Mountain Bay Trail Drive, and a suspicious person complaint near East Center Street involving someone reportedly seen behind a burned property.
Late-night activity included medical assistance calls, traffic stops on East Green Bay Street, and additional noise complaints before midnight.
Clintonville Police and emergency crews responded to several ambulance calls throughout the day, including incidents on Country Club Drive shortly after 1 a.m., North Park Street around 6:40 in the morning, Spring Street at 9 a.m., and Industrial Avenue during the afternoon.
Officers also investigated a suspicious complaint on North Main Street just before 2 a.m. Multiple business checks were conducted overnight on East Green Tree Road, Industrial Avenue, Autumn Street, and Commercial Avenue as officers continued routine patrols.
Traffic enforcement remained busy with stops reported on South Main Street, West Madison Street, Seventh Street, Klemp Road, Grove Street, Pine Street, and the Green Tree Road and Industrial Avenue area. Police also handled a reported traffic hazard on South Main Street late in the morning.
Additional calls for service included a disorderly complaint on 20th Street, welfare checks on East Second Street and West Morning Glory Drive, citizen assists on South Main Street and North Clinton Avenue, and extra patrols in several neighborhoods across the city.
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office handled 36 incidents across the county on Wednesday, ranging from traffic complaints and crashes to fire calls and welfare checks.
Deputies were called just before 7 a.m. to a property-damage crash on Highway 29 near County Road J in the Town of Tiger. Authorities also responded to disabled vehicles along Highway 29 during the afternoon and evening hours.
Two separate warrant-related arrests were reported during the day, including one in the Village of Lakewood and another at the Shawano County Courthouse. Deputies also investigated several reckless driving complaints, including incidents near Lake Drive and Graves Road, Highway 22 in Shawano, and Friendship Circle later in the evening.
A welfare check was conducted at the Ho-Chunk Casino after a medical alarm was activated for an 88-year-old man. Officers also responded to a weapon-related complaint at ThedaCare in Tigerton after staff reported a patient carrying what appeared to be a firearm. Authorities said the man was not threatening and had no history of violence at the facility.
Other calls included a suspicious incident near the Witt-Birn Townline Road bridge area, an abandoned vehicle complaint near Old Lake Road, and several noise complaints throughout the county.
Just after 8 p.m., deputies and fire crews responded to a barn fire on Spruce Road near Pulaski. Callers reported a collapsed barn with hay burning inside.
Late in the evening, deputies also received reports of a wrong-way driver near Highway 29 and Highway 160, along with a disturbance on Lake Drive in the Town of Wescott that remained under investigation.
