FREEDOM, WI – One of Wisconsin’s top basketball prospects is taking his talents to the Big 12, as Freedom standout Donovan Davis has announced his commitment to Iowa State Cyclones for the 2027 season.
The junior forward chose Iowa State over several high-profile programs, including Wisconsin Badgers, Iowa Hawkeyes, Nebraska Cornhuskers, and Marquette Golden Eagles. Davis also held additional offers from Syracuse, California, and Colorado State, but ultimately felt most comfortable with the Cyclones’ program and coaching staff.

Ranked as the No. 31 overall prospect in the country and the No. 3 player in Wisconsin, Davis has quickly become one of the most sought-after recruits in the region. The 6-foot-7 standout is coming off a dominant junior season where he averaged 21.7 points, 12 rebounds, and nearly five assists per game for the Irish.
Davis said his relationship with Iowa State head coach T.J. Otzelberger played a major role in his decision. He emphasized that building a strong connection with a coaching staff was a top priority throughout his recruitment and said he felt an immediate fit within the Cyclones’ program.

Davis joins a growing Wisconsin presence in Ames, including former Oshkosh North standout Xzavion Mitchell, who recently completed his freshman season with the Cyclones. With his commitment now official, Davis will look to continue developing his game at Freedom while preparing for the next level.
