Law Enforcement Activity- Monday April 4
CLINTONVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT
Clintonville Police handled a variety of calls Monday, including business checks, a crash, utility issues and multiple traffic stops.
Officers began the early morning hours conducting several business checks across the city, including locations on West 12th Street, South Main Street and Paulina Street.
Later in the morning:
- Officers assisted with an ambulance call on North 12th Street
- Conducted school extra patrol on West Green Tree Road
- Made a traffic stop near North 12th Street and 18th Street
Midday activity included:
- A lost and found report on 8th Street
- A 911 call on Olen Park Road
- A utility problem reported at South Main Street and West 1st Street
- Agency assistance provided on South Main Street
During the evening commute, officers handled several traffic-related calls:
- A traffic complaint on Highway 22
- Multiple traffic stops on North and South Main Street
- A motor vehicle crash at 7th Street and Liberty Street
The day ended with another ambulance call on 8th Street late Monday night.
SHAWANO POLICE DEPARTMENT
Shawano Police responded to more than 30 calls for service Monday, including noise complaints, school incidents, crashes, welfare checks and multiple intoxicated person calls.
The morning began with several noise complaints at Sturgeon Park, where callers reported hearing loud sounds. Officers checked the area but reported nothing unusual.
Officers also spent time at Olga Brener School for a juvenile complaint, and handled a suspicious report from a person concerned someone may have placed a tracker on their vehicle.
A trespassing complaint was reported on East Center Street involving people living in a shed and burning items, with one person seen moving onto nearby fairgrounds property.
Schools generated several calls throughout the day:
- Truancy and juvenile problems at Hillcrest Primary School
- Two additional truancy reports at Shawano Community High School
Police also handled multiple minor crash reports around the city:
- A vehicle mirror was struck on South Washington Street
- A truck backed into an SUV at ThedaCare Medical Center
- A rear-end crash near Airport Drive and Estates Lane
No injuries were reported in any of the crashes.
Late morning brought a traffic signal malfunction at Kwik Trip on East Green Bay Street, which officers were able to fix quickly after traffic backed up at the intersection.
During the afternoon, officers conducted:
- A traffic stop near Eberlein Park Drive
- A welfare check involving concerns about children not attending school
- A parking complaint about a trailer left on the road more than 48 hours
- A domestic disturbance on South Main Street
Officers also assisted with a vehicle lockout at Hillcrest Primary School.
In the late afternoon and evening, police responded to multiple intoxicated person calls:
- A highly intoxicated man involved in a disturbance at Memorial Park
- A welfare check after a man was seen stumbling and falling near Culver’s
- Another intoxicated man reported lying in the grass near the train station
Officers also handled:
- A tree down across Ash Lane creating a traffic hazard
- A vehicle theft report on South Sawyer Street
- A 911 call from United Cooperative that turned out to be accidental
- An animal noise complaint involving barking dogs late at night
The night wrapped up with traffic stops and a late-night welfare check requested by Menominee Tribal Police.
SHAWANO COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office handled 35 incidents across the county Monday, ranging from medical emergencies and animal calls to reckless driving and an OWI arrest.
The day began just after midnight with a civil matter involving a fraud report, followed by deputies picking up a subject on a warrant in the early morning hours.
At 6 a.m., deputies responded to an alarm at the Tribal Offices in Wittenberg, which was determined to be a new employee using an invalid alarm code.
Morning calls included:
- Removing road debris from a traffic hazard
- Assisting EMS with a 14-year-old experiencing a seizure at a school gym
- Dispatching a deer with severe injuries in the roadway
- Responding to a loose horse near County Trunk M and U
- Another warrant arrest at the Shawano County Jail
- A 911 hang-up call investigation
Late morning and early afternoon brought several traffic-related incidents:
- A no-passing zone violation involving a pickup and CDL training vehicle
- A disabled truck and trailer requiring a tow
- A vehicle vs. deer crash
- A report of reckless driving involving a speeding semi
Deputies also handled a variety of community calls:
- A trespassing complaint involving a family dispute
- A truancy complaint at Birnamwood Elementary/Middle School
- A disorderly conduct call involving a juvenile
- Multiple assist/standby calls for domestic and custody situations
- A juvenile problem involving two youths who ran away and attempted a break-in
Later in the afternoon and evening:
- Deputies responded to an intoxicated person at a trailhead
- Assisted with an angry parent situation
- Took another reckless driving complaint
- Removed additional road debris
- Responded to animal noise complaints about barking dogs
Evening and nighttime activity included:
- Multiple 911 calls, including abandoned and accidental dials
- Deputies located an intoxicated person lying in the grass near the train station
- A driver was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated (OWI)
- Deputies assisted Marathon County after a black bear was struck by a vehicle
- Responded to a business alarm at NAPA Hometown Auto
- Investigated a suspicious complaint late at night
