WAUPACA COUNTY, WI – An 18-year-old involved in a poaching investigation in Waupaca County has been sentenced following a court appearance this week.
Ian Johnson pleaded no contest to a charge of resisting a conservation warden and received a sentence that includes a $300 fine, 80 hours of community service, and a two-year revocation of his hunting and fishing privileges. In addition to that charge, Johnson was cited for multiple violations, including hunting out of season, hunting after hours, and firing a weapon from a vehicle, leading to additional fines.
The case dates back to last fall when authorities began investigating reports of shots fired and suspected illegal hunting activity in the area. Officials say the investigation uncovered a pattern of unlawful behavior involving multiple individuals.
