SHAWANO, WI – With graduation day approaching, Shawano High School officials say final preparations are in place to ensure a smooth and memorable ceremony for students and their families.
Associate Principal Deanna Arrowood says the district is ready for the big day, but is reminding attendees to plan ahead, especially when it comes to seating and parking. “There is no reserved seating, and with all of our referendum projects, parking will be tight,” Arrowood said. “We just want to make sure everyone is aware and gives themselves enough time.”
Graduation is scheduled for May 15th, bringing together students, families, and the community to celebrate the Class of 2026. Valedictorians for this year include: Anna Dreier, Andrew Hanssen, Teagan Powers and Claire Weiland. Following the ceremony, the celebration will continue with one of the school’s long-standing traditions, the Chem Free event.
Arrowood says the overnight event is designed to provide seniors with a safe and engaging way to celebrate with their classmates. “We have Chem Free and we are encouraging our parents to please, please, please volunteer,” she said. “It’s an amazing, awesome event.”
Students attending Chem Free can expect a full night of activities, including games, inflatables, and more, creating a fun environment that keeps graduates together in a supervised setting. The event runs from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m., wrapping up a full day of celebration for Shawano seniors.
School officials say community involvement plays a key role in making the event successful and are encouraging parents and volunteers to get involved as graduation day draws near.
