Shawano police responded to a wide range of calls throughout the day on April 26th, including several incidents involving public safety concerns.
Early in the morning, officers handled multiple medical assists and a disabled vehicle at East Division and South Main, where a car was found abandoned with hazard lights on. Around 7 a.m., police investigated a suspicious situation on South Smalley Street after reports of a man yelling for help.
Later in the morning, officers responded to a hit-and-run reported near Sacred Heart Catholic Church on South Main Street.
At midday, police were called to ThedaCare Medical Center for a disturbance involving an aggressive man reportedly threatening hospital staff.
Throughout the afternoon, officers dealt with several retail theft complaints at Walmart, as well as neighborhood disturbances and harassment calls.
Police also conducted a welfare check at Kwik Trip after an elderly woman was found unresponsive in a parked vehicle.
In the evening, a reckless driving complaint came in near Walgreens, and late at night officers investigated a suspicious person wearing a face covering near Evergreen Street.
The Clintonville Police Department handled a variety of calls including multiple tavern and business checks overnight along Main Street, along with extra patrols in several neighborhoods including 15th Street, Commercial Avenue, and Walnut Street.
An open door was reported on West 12th Street in the early morning hours, followed shortly by a lost-and-found call in the same area.
Police also responded to several emergency calls, including 911 hang-ups on North Main Street, 20th Street, and Memorial Circle. A mental health-related call was handled on South Clinton Avenue later in the morning.
In the afternoon, officers dealt with a stray animal complaint on West Madison Street.
During the evening, a traffic stop was conducted near North 12th Street and Sunset Drive, and extra patrols continued across the city.
The day ended with a domestic incident reported on South Main Street.
Shawano County law enforcement stayed busy over the weekend, responding to nearly 40 calls for service. Among the most serious incidents, deputies were dispatched to the Town of Norrie just after midnight for a reported stabbing. Authorities say a male victim was receiving emergency care when crews arrived. No further details have been released.
Later in the day, a death investigation was reported in the Town of Tigerton. Officials have not shared additional information, and the case remains under review.
The Sheriff’s Office also handled multiple theft-related calls, including a report of a dog stolen from a driveway on Retreat Road near Shawano, and a break-in at a storage unit along Highway 22. In a separate case, medication was reported stolen in the Gresham area, with a suspect identified.
Weapons complaints were another recurring issue, with several calls reporting gunfire in rural areas, including concerns about excessive shooting and possible explosive targets.
Traffic incidents included a crash involving a deer near Wittenberg and multiple reports of reckless driving, including one complaint of trucks traveling at extremely high speeds.
Deputies also responded to several welfare checks, animal complaints, and ongoing issues involving stray livestock and dogs.
In the evening hours, authorities dealt with multiple 911 hang-up calls, as well as a report of four juveniles running away from a facility in Wittenberg. That situation remains active.
