SHIOCTON, WI – Residents in the Village of Shiocton will soon be allowed to return to their homes following days of flooding along the Wolf River.
Officials say re-entry is scheduled to begin Thursday, marking a major step forward as water levels continue to recede and recovery efforts shift into full cleanup mode. Community members returning to the area are encouraged to seek out available resources, including information and assistance being offered at Romy’s on Thursday and Friday from 1 to 7 p.m.
Additional support will be available through the Black Creek Fire Department, which plans to distribute free supplies on both days from noon to 7 p.m. Residents are also being reminded to contact the Village Clerk’s Office by Friday to get on a list for volunteer assistance, as crews prepare to help with cleanup efforts across the community.
Saturday has been designated as an official community cleanup day, with volunteers expected to assist residents from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Organizers say the effort will bring together local groups and community members to help those impacted begin the recovery process.
Food and additional support will also be available during the cleanup, with the Hortonville Lions and Wolf River Community Bank providing meals at the River Rail parking lot.
Village officials say while the return home is an important milestone, recovery will take time as residents assess damage and begin rebuilding in the days ahead.
