Local Law Enforcement Activity- Monday April 21
SHAWANO POLICE DEPARTMENT
Shawano Police responded to a wide range of calls Monday, including welfare checks, suspicious activity, emergency assists, and multiple 911 calls throughout the day.
The overnight hours began with an accidental 911 call on South Washington Street shortly after midnight. Officers also responded to a noise complaint near the dam on South Water Street during the early morning hours.
Emergency services were called to assist ambulance crews on East Green Bay Street just after 8 a.m., followed by a welfare check on South Andrews Street involving concerns about the wellbeing of a mother and young children.
Late morning brought a suspicious vehicle investigation at Subway on East Green Bay Street, where several officers responded to check the situation.
Around noon, police handled a non-reportable vehicle incident on West Lieg Avenue. Officers were then called to assist fire crews responding to a commercial fire alarm on South Main Street, which was traced to a smoke detector activation.
During the afternoon, officers provided a standby assist on South Andrews Street while property management met with a tenant, and later responded to an abandoned 911 call at Olga Brener School on South Union Street.
Evening calls included another 911 hang-up near South Prospect Street and Waukechon Road, along with a law enforcement assist on East Randall Street involving another agency.
The day wrapped up with a harassment complaint at Walmart on East Green Bay Street, where a store employee reported inappropriate comments from a customer.
SHAWANO COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office handled 44 incidents across the county Monday, including arrests, investigations, welfare checks, animal complaints, and multiple 911 calls.
Deputies made an early-morning OWI arrest around 2:30 a.m. near Old Lake Lane. Throughout the morning, deputies also responded to several 911 calls, including accidental and abandoned dial reports in Cecil, Bonduel, and Antigo.
The day included several court-related duties, including an eviction in Shawano, prisoner transport to Taycheedah, and multiple writ pickups.
Late morning brought a criminal damage investigation in Wittenberg, where someone attempted to pry open a vehicle window. Deputies also handled a suspicious vehicle call at Subway on East Green Bay Street in Shawano.
At midday, deputies began a sexual assault investigation in Cecil, with the report indicating the incident happened the previous day. Investigations are ongoing.
Animal-related calls kept deputies busy, including a loose dog complaint in Birnamwood, a report of neglected livestock, barking dog complaints in Gresham, and a late-night call about a 7-foot black bear attempting to get into a home in Bowler.
Traffic safety remained a priority with multiple reckless driving complaints, including a bright blue Jeep weaving through traffic and a semi reported crossing the center line. Deputies also responded to a disabled vehicle on Highway 29.
Additional calls included fraud and scam reports, disorderly conduct, suspicious activity, alarm calls, welfare checks, and extra patrol requests.
CLINTONVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT
Clintonville Police responded to a variety of calls throughout the day Monday, including patrols, emergencies, and a theft investigation.
Officers began the overnight hours with extra patrol at Pickerel Point and conducted multiple business checks along South and North Main Street.
Morning hours included extra patrols on Walnut and Anne Streets, a citizen assist on Morning Glory Drive, and a lost and found report on West Madison Street. Officers also conducted a school extra patrol on Green Tree Road.
Late morning brought a gas leak call on North Main Street, followed shortly after by a 911 call on Industrial Avenue.
Emergency medical calls kept officers busy later in the day, with ambulance assists on McKinley Avenue, North 12th Street, and Spring Street.
During the evening, officers made a traffic stop near Bennett Street and West 3rd Street and responded to a theft report on South Main Street.
The night ended with extra patrol at Pickerel Point and additional business checks along Green Tree Road and Main Street.
