Raymond C. Begrow, 64, of Marion, passed away at his home on Thursday, April 16, 2026.
Born February 20, 1962, in Clintonville, he was the son of Gladys (Piotraschke) Begrow and the late August G. Begrow. Ray attended Marion schools and remained a proud, lifelong member of the community.
Known to many as “Beef,” Ray built a reputation for hard work and determination. Early in his career, he worked at Dupont Cheese, Emil Kuehl Cheese, and spent time farming and assisting with auctions through Nolan’s. On July 25, 1981, he was united in marriage to Judy Paiser at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Stony Hill. After working at Marion Plywood, Ray found his true calling behind the wheel. He drove for TransStar and ORT Trucking before achieving his dream of becoming an owner-operator in the late 1980s. He spent decades on the road in long-haul trucking before retiring in August 2024.
Outside of work, Ray was the life of any gathering. A natural storyteller with a booming laugh, he was known for his sense of humor and ability to bring people together. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting, riding his motorcycle, and exploring trails on his ATV.
Ray will be remembered for his generosity and willingness to help others. Whether splitting wood for a neighbor or lending a hand to family, he was always there when someone needed him. He lived with a strong work ethic, a love for life, and deep care for those around him.
He is survived by his wife, Judy; his mother, Gladys Begrow; his children, Amanda Begrow and Alan (fiancée Nicole Boyd) Begrow; and his grandchildren, Faith and Johanna Begrow. He is further survived by his siblings, Eugene (Carol) Begrow, Gary (Marilyn) Begrow, and Lori (Mark) Sellner; sisters-in-law, Sandy Paiser, Mary Wright, and Bonnie Paiser; brothers-in-law, Thomas Paiser, Jeff Paiser, and Ronald Magolski; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his father, August Begrow; his brother, Randy (Toye) Begrow; his in-laws, Robert and Helen Paiser; sisters-in-law, Betty Magolski, Peggy Paiser, and Sally (Bill) Hoefs; and brothers-in-law, Jim Paiser, Harlan Wright.
A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, April 24, 2026, at the Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home & Crematory, South Location, 299 S. Main St., Clintonville. Family friend Carol Polzin will officiate.
