Cheryl A. Warrington, age 65 of Keshena, started her journey to the spirit world on Tuesday afternoon, April 7, 2026, at her home in Keshena surrounded by her loved ones.
Cheryl was born in Shawano on February 12, 1961, a daughter of the late Kenneth and Lillian Warrington. She attended school in Shawano, graduating with the Class of 1979. Following school, Cheryl attended NAES College in Keshena. She later attended UW-Green Bay where she earned her bachelors degree in Native American Community Studies. Cheryl then worked as an advocate for the Oneida Tribe. At the time she got sick, Cheryl was working at the Eagles Nest Homeless Shelter on the reservation. She worked hard for the rights of her people and other native communities.
Cheryl enjoyed researching her family history and genealogy. She liked to bead, play bingo, garden, work in her yard, and watch documentaries on the History Channel. Survivors include her three children, Ryan (Santavia) Warrington of Columbia Heights, MN,
Lillian (Richard) Martinez of Keshena, and Niko (Senri) Martinez stationed in Okinawa, Japan, with the 3 rd Marine Division; eight grandchildren, Karian, Davier, Gabriel, Jaylen, Michael, Penelope, Achilles, and Richard; three sisters, Janet (Leonard) LaTender, Dianna Fish, and Constance Chevalier, all of Keshena; her brother, Kenneth Warrington, Jr.; and numerous nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her significant other, Al Martinez; her grandson, Ryan Warrington, Jr.; her brother, George Warrington; and her sister, Deborah Warrington. Traditional services for Cheryl will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2016, at 5:00 pm at the Warrington residence, W2628 Chief Josette Road, Keshena with Mr. John Teller presiding. Visitation will begin on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 5:00 pm at the Warrington residence and will continue until Saturday evening.
