CLINTONVILLE, WI- The City of Clintonville will have a new mayor following the spring election.
With all nine wards reporting, Jeannie Schley defeated incumbent Steve Kettenhoven by a vote of 612 to 448.
Schley, a longtime member of the Clintonville Common Council, said she ran for mayor after retiring so she could dedicate the time and attention needed to serve the community. During her years on the council, she served on multiple committees including Finance, Personnel, Utility, Safety and Ordinance, Airport, and CAWS, and also served as council president and acting mayor in 2014.
She is currently serving as an Alderperson in District 4.
Throughout the campaign, Schley emphasized infrastructure and financial responsibility as key priorities. She pointed to roads and infrastructure as ongoing challenges and said the city needs to be more proactive in securing grants and government funding. Schley also voiced concerns about recent tax increases and said city leaders need to take a closer look at the budget moving forward.
Kettenhoven, who served 15 years on the council and four years as mayor, highlighted his long connection to the community and focus on economic development, housing, and citizen engagement during the campaign.
Schley will now take over leadership of the city following the April election.
