WITTENBERG, WI – Local Cub Scouts are preparing to give back to the community as part of a nationwide effort to fight hunger.
The Wittenberg-Birnamwood Cub Scout Pack 445 will take part in the annual Scouting for Food drive on April 18th. The event brings together scouting groups from across the country to collect nonperishable food items for local food pantries.
In Wittenberg, donations will support the Wittenberg Food Pantry, with collection taking place in front of Wittenberg Sentry from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Organizers say the most needed items include canned vegetables, soup, fruit, cereal, pasta, rice, peanut butter, and other dry goods.
The pack has set an ambitious goal of filling an entire 10-man tent with donations, helping ensure families in need have access to food in the weeks ahead.
