KESHENA, WI – The Menominee Nation Eagles girls basketball team showed resilience throughout the 2025-26 season, finishing with strong overall numbers despite a challenging ending. The Eagles averaged 56.4 points per game while allowing just 44.4, finishing with a +12 point differential and showcasing a defense that forced 16.6 steals per contest. Their season included a four-game winning streak from February 3rd through February 13th, highlighting the team’s ability to find momentum late in the year.
However, that momentum was halted by a difficult stretch to close the season, as the Eagles dropped three straight games, including a 62-54 home playoff loss to Barron. Head coach Warren Wilber III says injuries played a major role in the team’s late struggles, noting that losing a starter, and then the player who stepped in to replace her, created inconsistency at a critical time. Despite those challenges, the Eagles continued to compete and adjust throughout the postseason push.
One of the defining traits of the team this year was its effort on the glass, particularly on the offensive end. Menominee Nation averaged nearly 16 offensive rebounds per game, showing a willingness to battle for second-chance opportunities night in and night out. Even when those chances didn’t always convert into points, Wilber says the effort and physicality were a constant strength.
Looking ahead, the Eagles will have some holes to fill, as they graduate key contributors including Urijah Reevis and Natalie Peters. Still, there is optimism for the future with the return of Aaliyah Corn, one of the team’s top scorers, who will help lead the next group. With experience returning and a strong identity built around effort and defense, Menominee Nation looks poised to build on this season moving forward.
