SEYMOUR, WI – The Seymour Thunder boys basketball team has put together an impressive season, entering the postseason with a 25-1 record and one of the strongest resumes in the area.
The Thunder’s only loss came against a talented Oshkosh North team, but Head Coach Bobby Kuchta says that defeat may have actually helped his team.
“It takes any question of any pressure off of us to be perfect,” Kuchta said. “And I think we can learn a lot from it too. It just shows that we’re not invincible. There’s probably more good than bad that came out of it honestly.”
Kuchta says the team’s success this season has come from a simple mindset that has guided the Thunder from the start of the year.
“One game at a time,” Kuchta said. “Just focus on the next opponent. You can’t get to the next date until you take care of that one.”
Seymour has been powered by strong performances from several key players. Kyler Marks leads the team in scoring, averaging about 21 points per game, while also pacing the Thunder on the boards with nine rebounds per game. Xavier Salzman has led the team in playmaking, averaging nearly four assists per contest.
As a team, Seymour has dominated opponents throughout the season, boasting an impressive point differential of more than 21 points per game.
