Police activity kept officers with the Shawano Police Department busy throughout the day Tuesday in Shawano.
Officers conducted an early morning building check around 1:50 a.m. at Sharona’s Bar on South Washington Street. The property check was completed without incident.
Later in the morning, police responded to a report of found property at Associated Bank on East Division Street. Officers also assisted a motorist who had locked their keys inside a running 2000 Dodge Durango at an apartment complex on Estates Lane. Police confirmed no children or animals were inside the vehicle.
Just after 9 a.m., officers were called to the intersection of North Main Street and East Green Bay Street for a disabled vehicle blocking traffic. The situation was handled and cleared in about 30 minutes.
Police were also dispatched to Walmart on East Green Bay Street after a complaint about a vehicle parked in a handicapped space near the pharmacy entrance.
The most serious call of the day came shortly before 11 a.m., when officers, firefighters, and EMS responded to a personal-injury crash at East Green Bay Street and Eberlein Park Drive. Authorities have not released information on injuries.
Shawano police also handled several truancy-related calls during the day.
Police in Clintonville responded to a variety of calls throughout the day yesterday. Just after 1:20 a.m., officers investigated a drug-related complaint on McKinley Avenue. About 45 minutes later, an ambulance was dispatched to Wilson Street for a medical call. Officers also conducted several extra patrols early in the morning on 9th Street, West Street, and Anne Street.
Police performed additional school patrols on West Green Tree Road and 20th Street to help ensure student safety during arrival and dismissal times.
Later in the morning, officers assisted with a lockout on Garfield Avenue and responded to another ambulance call on North Main Street. Traffic enforcement included stops at North Main and West Green Tree Road, as well as at North Main and 20th Street and East Madison and Auto Street.
During the afternoon, police handled parking enforcement on 15th Street and provided a citizen assist on North Main Street.
The day also included a disorderly conduct complaint on Brix Street and the service of papers on Motor Street later in the evening.
The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office handled more than twenty calls for service across the county.
Shortly after midnight, deputies attempted to deliver a message at a residence on Schmidt Road near Gresham, Wisconsin while also assisting emergency medical personnel with a call on County Highway F in Bonduel, Wisconsin.
During the early morning hours, deputies responded to an information report involving a scam attempt where someone posing as a business owner allegedly tried to instruct an employee to break into a safe. Authorities also assisted another law enforcement agency in Wittenberg, Wisconsin.
Around 4:40 a.m., deputies investigated a property-damage crash near Highway 29 and Rock Road in the Leopolis area. Later in the morning, a traffic hazard was reported along Highway 47-55 where a utility vehicle was allegedly dropping oil containers onto the roadway.
Authorities also handled several enforcement and investigative matters throughout the day. A woman turned herself in on a warrant at the county jail in Shawano, Wisconsin, while another person was taken into custody later in the afternoon on a warrant out of Wood County.
Deputies are also investigating two fraud complaints, including one involving a reported loss of about ten thousand dollars from a check that had allegedly been altered or “washed.”
Other incidents included a welfare check in the Krakow area, courthouse security assignments at the Shawano County Courthouse, and a disorderly conduct complaint at an apartment complex in Wittenberg.
During the evening hours, deputies responded to a domestic disturbance near County Highway MMM, a disorderly incident in the Pulaski area, and a 911 call near Birnamwood, Wisconsin.
Just after 7:20 p.m., deputies arrested a driver for suspected operating while intoxicated following a traffic stop on East Green Bay Street in Shawano. Later in the evening, deputies conducted a welfare check in the Underhill area involving a report of a possible suicidal subject.
The day wrapped up with deputies responding to a traffic hazard after a tree was reported down across County Highway G near Keller Road. Deputies say traffic was able to move around the obstruction while it was addressed.
