SHAWANO COUNTY, WI – The criminal case against Collyn Jorgensen has been placed on hold until the end of April to allow time for mental health treatment at the request of his defense attorney.
Jorgensen is facing multiple felony charges in connection with a June 19 crash, including first-degree reckless homicide, first-degree reckless injury, homicide by vehicle while under the influence of a controlled substance, injury by vehicle while under the influence of a controlled substance, reckless driving, operating while intoxicated causing injury to a minor, and obstructing an officer.
According to the criminal complaint, Jorgensen and two passengers were traveling to Antigo to pick up a friend from the Langlade County Jail when the crash occurred. Reports indicate the vehicle was traveling approximately 100 miles per hour at the time of the crash.
If convicted on the homicide charge, Jorgensen faces up to 60 years in prison. The reckless injury charge carries a potential 25-year sentence, with an additional nine months possible for the obstruction charge. The case is scheduled to resume later this spring.
