WEYAUWEGA, WI – City leaders in Weyauwega are exploring whether to adopt a local sex offender residency restriction ordinance, though no formal action has been taken.
The topic was discussed during recent Public Health and Relief Committee and City Council meetings as officials consider whether additional local restrictions would be appropriate for the community. City Clerk Becky Loehrke says the committee, council, and police chief are currently gathering information and reviewing how similar ordinances have been implemented in other municipalities.
At this stage, the city remains in the information-gathering phase and is working toward developing a possible draft ordinance. Officials say no decisions have been made, and the process is focused on research and evaluation.
City leaders say more details will be shared with the public once a proposal is ready for review.
